Attend Dogs and Drafts at the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel

Weekend Guide: September 12-16

Spend the weekend in Cambridge with our top four must-see and do events.

Mashrou’ Leila | September 12

See the first Middle Eastern artists to make the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, Mashrou’ Leila at The Sinclair in Harvard Square on Wednesday, September 12. The band that was born out of a late-night jam session at the American University of Beirut, is now known for their rousing electro-pop anthems about political freedoms, LGBTQ rights, race, religion, and modern Arabic identity.

Autumn…(Nothing Personal) | All weekend

If you haven’t stopped into Harvard Yard to see the newest art installation, we highly recommend swinging by this weekend. Autumn…(Nothing Personal), by renowned artist Teresita Fernández, is a labyrinth-like structure made up of three concentric circles, with thousands of custom-made polycarbonate tubes extending from the back of wood benches.

Take it from us, when we say to truly experience this art installation, you’ll have to see it for yourself.

See it: Now through October 1st

The Donkey Show | September 15

If you haven’t seen the Donkey Show at the American Repertory Theater’s Oberon yet this fall, this weekend is the perfect opportunity! Once you step through Oberon’s doors, you’ll be whisked away from the red brick buildings of Harvard Square and transported to the ultimate disco experience.  The Donkey Show is essentially the disco version of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, complete with a disco ball, glitter, and fairies.

Pandas: IMAX Film | Now through November

Everyone loves pandas and now you can see them here in Cambridge.  See Pandas, the IMAX film at the Museum of Science this weekend.  Narrated by Frozen’s Kristen Bell, the breathtaking documentary follows the Qian Qian the panda as she takes her first steps outside of her protected habitat.  You’ll watch as she faces the challenges of the unknown and discovers her true animal nature.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it this weekend, Pandas will be on view at the Museum of Science until November 8th.

Dogs and Drafts | September 18

We know. We know… This event may not take place during the weekend, but we couldn’t NOT include an event featuring puppies and beer.  Can you blame us?

Grab your leash and your four-legged friend and head over to the ultra dog-friendly Kimpton Marlowe Hotel in partnership with Red Dog Resort & Spa for craft beer and delicious bites.  Sip on beer from Aeronaut Brewing Company this week., while you enter raffles for you and your dog.  Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Great Dog Rescue New England.
