In case you haven’t already heard, the Hasty Pudding Theatricals have named actor Ryan Reynolds as their 2017 Man of the Year. Keeping with tradition, Reynolds will be honored with a private roast at Farkas Hall before he is awarded the coveted golden Pudding Pot. We guess the saying, ”The proof is in the pudding,” truly applies here.
While this event is not open to the public, we have great news for Ryan Reynold’s fans!
For the first time EVER, the Man of the Year press conference will be live-streamed via the Hasty Pudding’s Facebook at 8:40p.

FESTIVAL + EAT
If you find yourself craving chili this weekend, you’re in luck! Head over to Harvard Square’s Brattle Plaza for the free 9th Annual “Some like it Hot” Chili Cook-Off. Participating restaurants from around the square will be there with their most delicious chili recipe, all competing for your vote!
We just love when restaurants compete for our stomachs. Did we mention this event is the perfect way to get into the Super Bowl spirit and it’s totally free? Win!
Eat it: 1p-2:30p
Before you settle in to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday night, join the race to beat cancer with the Race Cancer Foundation at the Super Sunday 5K and 5M Race. You’ll help raise money for fantastic charities, get your exercise in before you devour chicken wings and buffalo chicken dip, and attend a fun party all before the Super Bowl even begins. The fun starts at 10a in Kendall Square and is followed by a huge post-run party.
Not a runner? Don’t worry! You can still attend the post-run party with the purchase of a party ticket.
Sign up fast before all the spots fill up.
Run it: 10a-2
EAT + CHEER
BBQ and football go together like Tom Brady and Super Bowl Rings, which makes Kendall Square’s The Smoke Shop the perfect place to watch the big game. As if the New England Patriots going to the Super Bowl was enough excitement for the day, the Smoke Shop is amping up the day with a whole hog extravaganza.
They’ll have a special viewing section, complete with 10 LED televisions, dinner and dessert buffet. If you’re looking for a more intimate viewing experience, upgrade to the “Owner’s Box” which will treat a group of 12-14 of your closest friends to your own private alcove, all the fixings of the dinner and dessert buffet, pitchers of beer, and a suckling pig presented by the chef himself!
FYI: The big game starts at 6:30p on Fox.
