Weekend Guide: April 26-29
Wed Apr 25, 2018
Spend the weekend in Cambridge, MA with our top four must-see events, including an annual festival and flea market to add to your calendar.
Last week, we celebrated Cambridge’s love and curiosity for science and this week, we’ll celebrate our appreciation for the arts with Harvard University’s ARTS FIRST Festival. Over four days, Harvard’s campus will overflow with plays, dance performances and exhibitions, and concerts from their exceptionally talented students and faculty. The ARTS FIRST Festival is a feast for the eyes with more than 100 live performances.
Want to hear one of the best parts of the festival? All of the events are open to the public and most of the events are free.

Wig Out!, the Oberon’s newest and most dazzling show starts this Thursday and is definitely a play you’ll want to see. Audience members will take a peek behind the curtain into the fabulous world of competitive ballroom drag, a play about out-walking the competition where friendships are forged and loyalty is tested.

Celebrate National Poetry Month at the historic Longfellow House this weekend and attend a poetry writing workshop on Saturday.

Attend it: 11a-12:30p
WALK & RACE
Head over to Harvard Square this Sunday for the Bionic 5K, a seriously inspiring race.
The Bionic 5K recognizes the resilience and tenacity of disabled athletes while celebrating advances in science and technology that are ushering in a new bionic age. All are welcome to join- whether you have an artificial hip, a prosthetic or even just a FitBit, this race includes everyone.
After you’ve completed the race, stick around and celebrate your accomplishment at the after party at 41 Church Street for pizza and refreshments.

The wait is almost over. The Central Flea returns to Central Square next weekend and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Because the Central Flea has been so popular, the flea will move to University Park at MIT and will happen every Sunday until October. The Central Flea is a Cambridge-style flea welcoming all styles of goods from Boston art and vintage to Afrocentric and salvage, food trucks to fair trade.
