Dogs Are King in Cambridge

Dog Appreciation Day has us thinking about the city’s must-sniff spots! Where do Cambridge pooches have a waggin’ good time? Read all about the places that show your fur baby some extra love:

1. Fresh Pond Reservation Dog Park
Live life off-leash at Fresh Pond’s dog park! Fido is free to socialize and play a thrilling game of fetch in 162 acres of open space. After running around, you and your canine friend can cool off in the reservation’s two ponds.

2. Camberville Dog Treats
We get to eat farm-to-table— shouldn’t our pups? Camberville Dog Treats bakes plant-based, home-made treats using only real, wholesome foods. Treat purchases are also guilt-free because ten percent of profits benefit animal charities. Treats are available for purchase online and at Whole Foods Fresh Pond. For doggos with a savory palate, we recommend the Harvard Square treat with sweet potato and peanut butter. For the sweet-tooth canines, we suggest the Porter Square treat with apple and pear.

3. Laundromutt
BYOD (Bathe Your Own Dog) at the Laundromutt! Since 2004, this family-owned business has offered DIY baths and grooming. DIY baths allow you to bathe your favorite hound yourself with state-of-the-art stainless steel bathtubs, forced-air dryers, towels and brushes. Got a case of the muddy paws and some clean furniture at home? Come in for a quick paw rinse priced at just $8.

4. Hotel Marlowe
Treat man’s best friend to some R & R at no extra charge! Upon arrival, the hotel will greet them by name, and the four-legged Director of Pet Relations will give them a tail-wagging welcome. In-room accommodations include: food, water bowl, a plush pet bed, and “business bags” for walking around the city. Oh and did we mention tail-waggers are invited to Hotel Marlowe’s nightly wine reception? Talk about a paw-ty!

5. The Automatic
What canine doesn’t love sharing some late-night bites? BringFido named The Automatic a top dog-friendly eatery in the city of squares. This neighborhood favorite serves up international dishes as well as classic cocktails, draught beer and global wines. Fur balls are welcome on the lively, outdoor patio where you might catch some live music or a corn hole tournament.

6. Cambridge Brewing Company
The greatest part of Cambridge Brewing Company is the beer. Pooches on the patio are a very close second. Yours could be featured on Instagram as a #CBCPatioDog! Patio dogs might not be able to give the local brews a try, but you can have a drink in their honor. The rotating beer menu at CBC has been voted one of the best eight breweries in the Boston area. Pair a classic pilsner or a hoppy IPA with dishes like pulled chicken nachos. Your furry pal will be happy when some fall to the ground.
