Visit Cambridge’s small businesses as part of Small Biz Month and the holiday season.

Wed Nov 10, 2021

Shop, dine and play in Cambridge during Small Business Month this November. You can get on the nice list by supporting small biz through the holiday season and beyond.

Unique businesses are scattered across every corner of Cambridge. The City of Cambridge is partnering with businesses and business associations to give shoppers new ways they can explore our vibrant shopping districts. Download maps to find retailers in each neighborhood plus specials you won’t want to miss. To discover even more Cambridge businesses, check out Cambridge Local First’s directory and holiday shopping guide. CLF will soon release the next edition of their guide so be on the lookout for that too.

Want to kick off holiday shopping in a big way? Outdoor markets are in full swing this holiday season. On Saturdays and Sundays, head to Starlight Square’s Popportunity, an outdoor pop-up market featuring local vendors. On Small Biz Saturday, November 27 this year, Popportunity will take over Norfolk Street for additional holiday shopping. Save the date for Small Business Saturday because the Cambridge Arts Holiday Arts Market launches then too. You can search for treasures at this Porter Square market on November 27-28 as well as December 4-5.

Shopping small doesn’t have to end in November; mark your calendar for small biz celebrations in December. On Sunday, December 5, walk in a winter wonderland with the Observatory Hill Holiday Stroll. The afternoon will be filled with food, live music and festivities for the whole family. Then on Thursday, December 9, don’t miss Inman Square’s Holiday Stroll for a chance to shop small with Inman businesses. Another annual favorite is Harvard Square’s Holiday Fair, which runs for two weekends: December 10-12 and 17-19. Last, but not least, browse Popportunity on Saturday, December 18 for a vintage takeover with one-of-a-kind gifts.

Once you shop ‘til you drop, a fun way you can support small biz is through social media. What are your go-to Cambridge businesses? Is there a business owner that brightens your day? Post about what shopping small means to you and snap a pic of your latest finds. Don’t forget to use the hashtag, #ShopCambMA so you can spread the word about our local business community.

Did you know when you shop small, over 50% of a dollar spent stays in the community? Small businesses rely on sales from the holiday season all year long. So make your shopping list, check it twice and start shopping Cambridge!
