Park(ing) day: time to park it in cambridge

Happy (almost) PARK(ing) Day, Cambridge! Friday the City of Cambridge converts metered parking spaces into activity hubs and mini parks. Eighty-five local businesses, nonprofits and city departments will fill your Friday with good times. Their mission is to call attention to the value of public space.

Out of the 155 PARK(ing) spaces, here are some ideas for where to start with PARK(ing) Day fun.

HARVARD SQUARE:

Spot #15 Wheel’n Around

From 8a.m.-6p.m., you can lounge and chat in furniture made from gardening tools. Get inspiration on how to repurpose your wheelbarrow into a sustainable seat!

Spot #16 Blue Bikes

For Friday fuel, we’re thinking sustainable smoothies! Hop on Blue Bike’s blender bike, and use your pedal power to make a delicious smoothie anytime from 8a.m.-6p.m.

Spot #21 Down Under Yoga

Zen-out with fifteen minute-long yoga and mindfulness classes. From 10a.m.-4p.m., you can also learn how Down Under Yoga is practicing sustainability in their studio.

Spot #26 Kirtan for Your Soul with Spotimyze Mobility

Remix your Friday with a performance by a Kirtan singing group. Experience their soft rhythmic chanting from 10a.m.-4p.m.

Spot #28 The Culture Garden with Breton Place

You bring the conversation; the Culture Garden provides food from their garden, a place to cook and a table where for everyone to gather. From 10a.m.-4p.m., learn about the Culture Garden’s efforts to end food insecurity.

KENDALL SQUARE:

Spot #56 Parkour Pop-up Movement Playground

All ages and abilities are welcome to put their creative movement skills to the test. Visit the Parkour playground from 8a.m.-6p.m.

Spot #59 Wall Together Now Collaborative Art Park

Leave your mark on a color-by-number mural in the heart of Kendall Square. Stop by from 8a.m.-6p.m.

Spot #66 Public Library in a Parklet

Check out a library book from the public library’s parklet from 10a.m.-4p.m. Don’t have a library card? No problem! You can register .

PORTER SQUARE:

Spot #5 Henry Bear’s Park

Chalk, bubbles and face painting! Be a kid again from 10a.m.-4p.m. The little ones in your life will also love getting some playtime with Henry Bear’s Park toy store. They are offering a raffle and will also have games.

Spot #11 Lime Pop-Up Protected Mobility Lane

Try out a Lime e-scooter in a protected lane or play a match of corn hole from 7a.m.-7p.m.
