Everything you need to Know about Smoke This! Rib Fest

Arrive hungry, leave happy.

Get your appetites ready for the East Cambridge Business Association’s 9th Annual Smoke This! Rib Fest on Sunday, September 30th. Rib Fest is an epic food and street festival that pits pit master against pit master to see who's ribs will be dubbed the “Best Ribs in Town.”

Presented by the East Cambridge Business Association and Divco West (A.K.A Cambridge Crossing), this mouthwatering event is much more than a day to indulge in some smoky BBQ. In fact, the East Cambridge Business Association’s core mission is to promote and maintain sustainable commerce in East Cambridge.

Expect to see most of your favorite East Cambridge restaurants to attend in hopes that their ribs will be named the “Best Ribs in Town.”  We usually don’t like to see our Cambridge chefs battle, but this is one event we can get behind. Loosen your belt buckles and get ready eat. In no time, you’ll be chowing down on ribs from Area 4, ARTBAR, Atwood’s Tavern, The Automatic, Bambara, Cambridge Brewing Co., Catalyst, Commonwealth, Filarmonica Santo Antonio, HIghland Fried, Lone Star, Lord Hobo, Loyal Nine, Ole, Portugalia, Puritan & Co., Rindge Vocational Culinary Arts Students, State Park, Trina's Starlight Lounge, and more.

Choose from the Taste Ticket or the Meateater tickets. The $27.50 Taste Ticket lets BBQ lovers sample 10 ribs from the restaurants of your liking. Only $25 for 10 ribs? Sounds like a deal to us!

If you consider yourself a “bottomless pit” or at least your friends do, opt for the Meateater Ticket where you can sample all the ribs for only $75. Once you’ve purchased your ticket and tackled all 10 ribs (or more! No judgment here) samples from restaurants of your choice, it’s time to pick a winner!

This family-friendly event will have a variety of activities for your little ones, provided by The East End House. While you’re indulging on the best BBQ, local bands will be setting the mood, including bluegrass band Monday Night Bluegrass Band featuring Jimmy Ryan, Eric Royer, Dave Westner with special guests Sarah Borges and Hazel Royer, and Vapors of Morphine.

Rib Fest will take place on Cambridge Street in East Cambridge, right between Fulkerson Street and Fifth Street. We encourage festival-goers to take advantage of public transportation the Red Line in and hop off at Kendall Square or take the Green Line to Lechmere and walk to the event.  It’s only about a 10-minute walk and then you’ll arrive at the event.

If you’d prefer to drive, the CambridgeSide’s Parking Garage is a quick 9-minute walk.

Smoke This! Rib Fest will take place on Sunday, September 30th from noon-4p.
