A Bo(o)untiful Guide to October
From festivals to shows, Cambridge has got the fall hookup. Especially in October! October is full of festivities that every ghoul, goblin and witch desires. Pumpkin spice fans, there are events for you too! Grab the calendar for this one, and pencil in some fall fun on your weekends:
Do Halloween weekend right with “The Rocky Horror Show” in live musical form. You can also see this classic musical anytime from October 17-November 2. It’s taking over the 25 Brattle storefront in Harvard Square.
The Longy School of Music of Bard College presents “OktoberFest: Things That Fall.” This cabaret reveals the beauty and heartbreak of things that tumble and fall. An added dose of whit will have you falling out of your chair with delight.
Since you might start your Halloweekend early, we included a Thursday night event in our guide. On the Thursday before Halloween, Cambridge brings apple orchards to you at its Cider Social. The Cambridge Cider Social puts the spotlight on local hard cideries and bakeries that whip up the treats you look forward to each fall. All funds raised by this event advance research on effective treatments at the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
If you like horror movies (and podcasts!), we have an event for you. The Tales of Audio Horror is a live audio drama experience taking place at the Middle East. Think ghost stories told around a campfire! All ages are welcome, but stories are intended for mature audiences.
Party Under the Harvest Moon returns with live music, a silent auction and of course, plenty of food, sweets, beer and wine! Have a great night out while supporting hunger-relief programs.
The forty-first annual Oktoberfest makes its way back to Cambridge alongside HONK!. Live music, six beer gardens and arts and crafts fill the street at this family-friendly tradition.
Calling all cocktail lovers: the Craft Spirit Festival is back! Dozens of vendors will fill University Park, giving you the chance to eat local food, drink local spirits and vote for the top mixologist.
Get ready for a full day of barbeque at Smoke This Rib Fest. Vote on the best ribs in town by the Rib Fest stage. There you can hear local favorites like Vapors of Morphine and Monday Night Bluegrass. If you bring along little ones, stop at The East End House table for crafts and games.
Flannel shirt, apple cider and The NOCA Fall Fest make for the perfect start to October. The North Cambridge Fall Fest offers discounts, giveaways and tastings of fall treats. Participating local businesses include Spindler Confections, Curio Spice Co. and Café Barada (just to name a few!).
