13 Ways to Avoid Cooking this Thanksgiving: 2017

Sit back, relax, and actually enjoy Thanksgiving this year.

Believe it or not, Thanksgiving will be here before you can say “Turkey!” If Turkey Day has become your responsibility this year, and you’re feeling the stress, this guide is for you.
Forget all about lumpy mashed potatoes, dry stuffing or serving a potentially burnt turkey.  This year, we suggest leaving Thanksgiving up to the professionals! Take advantage of the many restaurants in Cambridge for an unforgettable delicious holiday meal you and your guests will love.  After all, when you're in a great foodie destination like Cambridge, it would be wrong not to.

If you are looking for a wonderful meal and an amazing view, look no further than ArtBar at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in East Cambridge.  You and your family will be treated to a traditional dinner served family style.  After you’ve devoured everything that Chef Brian Dandro and his team have prepared, indulge in their dessert buffet from the pastry team.  Thanksgiving at the ArtBar is just like being in your own dining room (but without the hassle of cooking and the dishes).

And... if you’d rather spend Thanksgiving at home, the Royal Sonesta can help with that too with their Thanksgiving Feast-To-Go! This Thanksgiving you can order everything you’ll need/want for dinner- from side dishes to dessert!

A night spent eating, drinking and listening to the music in the Beat Brasserie will leave you feeling thankful that you decided to attend.

This Thanksgiving, the Beat Brasserie will have a special a la carte menu that fuses their unique bohemian style with traditional holiday favorites. As an added bonus, you and your loved ones (kids, too!)  will enjoy country, Bluegrass, and  Americana music between sharing yummy dishes around the table.

If you’re seeking something less traditional, we suggest trying Dante this Thanksgiving. Located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel along the beautiful Charles River, you and your guests will be treated to their a la carte menu along with everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving classics.

Everyone from meat lovers to vegetarians and even the littlest of guests will find something they’ll love! Including plenty of pie to enjoy after dinner. Who doesn’t love Italian food and pie?

Flour Bakery and Café has something delicious for every meal that you’ll serve on Turkey Day.  After all, you’ve got to eat something before and after the turkey! Flour has really thought of it all -- breakfast, dinner rolls, and of course, pie.

Celebrate Turkey Day with scrumptious breakfast treats like pumpkin spiced bread with candied pepitas or a maple pecan cranberry tea cake while the Thanksgiving Day parade plays on the television.  Then enjoy fresh baked rolls and buttermilk biscuits along with their great selection of side dishes for dinner and wash it all down with some pie (our eyes are on the southern pecan pie!).

Place your fixings and goodies order through their website by November 17th. Easy as pumpkin pie!

Harvard Square is one of the most festive places to be during the holidays, which is why we think it is the perfect meeting spot for a Thanksgiving meal. Gather together at this favorite Harvard Square restaurant, Grafton Street Pub and Grill, and enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu with the option to add a wine pairing.  Grafton Street will have all the holiday fixings you know and love!

Doesn't Harvest sound like the perfect place to enjoy Thanksgiving?  And after reading their menu, you’ll be sure to agree.

Both Thanksgiving Day purists and those with a more adventurous palette will all enjoy Harvest’s three-course Thanksgiving Day menu with an optional wine pairing. You’ll feast on delicata squash and burrata, apples and brie, and of course turkey breast with stuffing. Be sure to save some room for dessert.  Choose from pumpkin profiteroles or a refreshing pomegranate sorbet. We can guarantee that you’ll be very thankful for Harvest.

Mamaleh’s | Kendall Square

If you’re in charge of bringing the pie this year, we know just the place to go.  Mamaleh’s in Kendall Square may be known for their bagels most of the year, but around the holiday season, they’re known for their delicious pies and sides.  The hardest part of the whole process will be deciding on which delicious pie to choose- the charoset, chocolate tahini swirl, and the classic sweet potato pie.  If you really want to be named the “Best Guest” of Thanksgiving, you’ll pick up their tasty side dishes.

We can all agree that Thanksgiving is the one day of the year that you will want to wear your most comfortable stretchy pants. Next Thursday, be sure to pull those pants out of your closet for Nubar’s Thanksgiving buffet. You can expect to see all your favorites from the salad, stuffing, and carving stations to a decadent dessert bar -- all expertly prepared. We predict that Nubar’s Thanksgiving Buffet will have you craving seconds...and thirds!

Channel your inner Julia Child and shop at Savenor’s Market for your entire Thanksgiving dinner (or just for the turkey).A Thanksgiving spread from Savenor’s wouldn’t be complete without their drool-worthy cheese and charcuterie platter with paired accoutrements.   The market, frequented by the famed Cantabrigian chef, offers a variety of turkeys, brining kits (perfect for first-time chefs or seasoned cooks), a variety of house-made ready to heat side dishes and even gravy. Simply place your order online by Sunday, November 19th, pick up at your specified time and Thanksgiving is done. Voila!

Add a little BBQ into your usual Thanksgiving menu this year with some help from one of Kendall Square’s beloved restaurant, The Smoke Shop.   Choose from traditional fixings like mashed sweet potatoes and green bean casserole or order the whole beef brisket or smoked turkey with what The Smoke Shop is calling “sexy gravy.”

Simply place your order by Saturday, November 19 and pick up the goods the day before Thanksgiving.  Then, the only thing you’ll have to do is try not to eat everything before your guests arrive on Thursday.  Challenge accepted!

Temple Bar is the perfect place to gather together for Thanksgiving.  You’ll be greeted by their warm interior first and then you’ll fall completely in love with their menu and staff.

Everyone will enjoy their seasonally inspired Thanksgiving menu, along with additional dishes from their current dinner menu.  If you can’t make it over for dinner, their bar will be open until 9p! After a long day of traveling and eating, you simply can’t go wrong getting together with friends and family at their cozy bar for a nightcap.

Season to Taste Catering Company has such a large to-go Thanksgiving menu, the hardest thing you’ll have to do on Thanksgiving (besides roast the turkey) will be deciding on which a la carte menu item to order.

They have crave-worthy dishes like roasted pumpkin soup, creamed corn pudding with bacon, Kentucky bourbon and maple gravy, and all the classic pies. After placing your order online (before November 17th), all you’ll have to do is pick up your order from their Cambridge kitchen on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Mix up Thanksgiving this year and try a southern-fried turkey from the Summer Shack.  In addition to a juicy, fried turkey, the chefs at the Summer Shack are ready to do all of the work this year. Order your turkey and all the fixin’s from their online site and then pick it up on Wednesday, November 22 from 12-6p.  All you’ll have to worry about is hiding the take-out containers.
