The White Raven/Inspiring Music for Troubled Times

Coro Allegro, Boston's award-winning LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus, presents "The White Raven/Inspiring Music for Troubled Times," a transcendent concert celebrating the resilience of the human spirit on Sunday, May 7. The performance is part of Coro Allegro's centennial celebration of composer Daniel Pinkham. Under the direction of Artistic Director David Hodgkins, the concert features Pinkham's cantata "The White Raven," a Coro Allegro commission celebrating the diversity of creation, and Haydn's Missa in Angustiis (Mass for Troubled Times), a work showcasing the power of the human voice to transcend adversity. The program also includes Dr. Diane White-Clayton's "Many Mansions," a moving reimagining of the African-American Spiritual "In Bright Mansions Above," reflecting on the losses and struggles of our troubled times. Guest soloists include soprano Dana Varga, mezzo-soprano Clare McNamara, tenor Omar Najmi and baritone Wayne Arthur. The performance will be followed by a gala celebration marking 30 years of singing with pride with Hodgkins at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. Tickets for "The White Raven/Inspiring Music for Troubled Times" start at $25.
