Lessons from Plants (Free Virtual Conversation)

Join Beronda L. Montgomery in conversation with Harvard Museums of Science & Culture Executive Director Brenda Tindal on Wednesday, Feb. 23, as she addresses what plants can teach humans about being resilient, relating to one another and building diverse communities. In "Lessons from Plants" (Harvard University Press, 2021) Montgomery, foundation professor of biochemistry and molecular biology plus microbiology and molecular genetics at Michigan State University, discusses human interdependence with plants and the many lessons that can be gained from a better understanding of the ways in which plants grow, adapt and thrive. Plants are essential to humans and the environment: they provide food, produce oxygen, beautify landscapes, absorb carbon dioxide plus serve multiple ecosystem functions.
