MFA in Visual Arts Lecture: Eric N. Mack
Lesley University's MFA in Visual Arts program is hosting an Art Talks Lecture series, inviting internationally recognized artists to share their work and experiences. The lecture will be live-streamed on their YouTube channel on Wednesday, January 13.
Self-described as a painter, Eric N. Mack pushes past the medium’s traditional canvas-to-stretcher format. His tactile assemblages, created from a dynamic combination of used textiles, worn clothes, moving blankets and torn rags, alongside photographs plus pull outs from books and magazines, extend as well as embed social messaging in addition to narrative within his works, which often function on an architectural scale. His recent solo shows include those at the Brooklyn Museum; BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art, UK; and the Albright-Knox Gallery, Buffalo. Group shows include those at Mass MoCA, Kunsthalle Basel, MoMA PS1 and the 2019 Whitney Biennial.
