Ikebana Flower Arrangement Workshop
Practice ikebana at one of two workshops offered Sunday, May 7 and Sunday, May 21. Ikebana, the art of flower arranging, is one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement. With a modern approach it is a practice that can be done anytime, anywhere, at any age, by all genders, with no restrictions. This art form is more than creating a sense of balance, harmony and simplicity for an occasion or a particular space. It is also a meditative, contemplative way to foster better mental health and intentionally bring about inner-peace. Registration is required, and the cost for each class is $57 per person. Those who plan to attend both sessions, or two people who plan to attend one class together, can register for $97. Please email boston@ibps.org with any questions.
Celebrate Mother's Day in May 7's class. Learn the concept of mottainai and kintsugi while working with various materials along with unconventional supplies in a freestyle ikebana fashion to create alluring designs. Honor Buddha's birthday at session two on May 21. In this class, a contemplative/meditative approach is taken to create a calming simplicity in the arrangement using biophilic elements to foster a more Zen-like environment with a spiritually significant connection to Buddhism and devotional practices. These types of designs are suitable for a shrine, church, meditation space or prayer nook in a home.
