Bernstein Centennial: This Will Be Our Reply

We, too, may be living in W. H. Auden’s “Age of Anxiety.” This concert, featuring the Longy Conservatory Orchestra, Sean Wang, conductor, faculty pianist Spencer Myer, and members of Longy’s Sistema Side by Side Chorus and Orchestra, will include the composer’s rarely-heard “The Age of Anxiety,” along with selections from his “Mass” and “West Side Story.” Each of these pieces are a testament to Bernstein’s belief that, as a reply to violence we will “…make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.”

See the performance at Longy School of Music's Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall on December 8th at 8p.
