
Astronomy is for All of Us: Celebrating Women Astrophysicists and the History of Cosmic Discovery
During Massachusetts STEM Week, join Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian Friday, Oct. 19 for an evening celebrating remarkable women in astronomy. Enjoy a dynamic lecture on exciting applications of astronomy, explore a captivating exhibition in the Great Refractor, engage in family-friendly STEM activities then cap off the night with fall refreshments and stargazing. Hear welcome remarks from Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, highlighting MA STEM Week plus remarks from Professor Lisa Kewley, director of Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. Professor Alyssa A. Goodman of Robert Wheeler Willson Professor of Applied Astronomy will deliver a special keynote: Astronomy from Aristotle to AI. This is also the last week to visit The Harvard Plate Stacks special exhibition, "Her Luminous Distance: The Legacies of Women Astronomical Computers at Harvard," open now through Sunday, Oct. 22 (Thursdays, 4–8pm; Friday–Sunday, 1–5pm).
