Art Talk Live: Modern Sculpture in the Busch-Reisinger Museum

This virtual talk on Tuesday, Feb. 21 looks at the Busch-Reisinger Museum’s history and the first accessions of sculptures from modern artists. Curatorial fellow Clemens Ottenhausen will share some of the collection’s key characteristics as well as situate the museum’s activities under director Charles L. Kuhn (1930–1968) in a larger context of an increasingly transatlantic art scene. This talk is part of the Fresh Perspectives series, an initiative that centers the role of the museumgoer. Like talks in the ReFrame series, these programs highlight diverse voices and broad interpretations of difficult histories and untold narratives. This approach encourages visitors to consider alternative ways of understanding an object, culture or theme.
