Art Study Center Seminar: Political Art in Latin America and Beyond
Join curatorial fellow Madeline Murphy Turner on Friday, Apr. 5 for a dynamic exploration of political art from Latin America and beyond since the 1960s, including works by artists from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and the United States. Turner will focus on such topics as reframing historical narrative, the photographic portrait, abstraction, and public intervention. This seminar will also consider the various techniques and strategies artists use to engage political sensibilities, as well as the diverse definitions of political art and its possibilities in times of crisis.
Admission is free, but registration is required. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the program to allow sufficient time to sign in at the Art Study Center reception desk (Level 4), and be prepared to present a photo ID. All coats and bags must be placed in a locker prior to entering the study room.
