Art Study Center Seminar: Before the Parade Passes By—Bruce Cratsley’s Portraiture

Join curatorial fellow Jackson Davidow Friday, Feb. 9 for a rare exploration of the photography of Bruce Cratsley, an important yet understudied gay artist active in New York from the 1970s to the 1990s. Examining Cratsley’s 25 gelatin silver prints in Harvard Art Museums' collections, we will reconstruct his life story while paying close attention to his technique and subject matter. The tour will focus on his compassionate portraits and brooding self-portraits.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Registrations open online Tuesday, Jan. 30. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the program to allow sufficient time to sign in at the Art Study Center reception desk (Level 4), and be prepared to present a photo ID. All coats and bags must be placed in a locker prior to entering the study room.
