25th Annual Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film Festival

Catch the Do It Your Damn Self!! National Youth Film Festival, the longest-running youth film festival in the country, Friday, June 3 from 6:30–11 p.m. at Harvard Art Museums and Saturday, June 4 from 6–10 p.m. at Kendall/MIT Open Space. Screenings are free and open to all. Register online to attend then enjoy music and free food prior to screening.

Beyond its longevity, what makes this festival so unique is that it was built to center those whose expression has been stifled, co-opted and is often omitted. It encourages the kind of perspective-taking that is so desperately needed in these times. Young people from historically excluded backgrounds find a home for their stories at DIYDS!! This film festival has always amplified the voices of Black, Brown, immigrant and LGBTQIA+ youth and has understood the power and importance of inclusive storytelling. At its core, this is a festival developed on the principles of self-determination. A powerful declaration in a world that often seeks to define people based solely on race, gender and circumstance.
