Spend President’s Day weekend in Cambridge with our top five events, plus an event to add to your calendar.

LECTURE

Symbiosis and the Evolution of Life in the Ocean | February 16

One of our favorite things about Cambridge are the opportunities that we have to learn something new through some of the brightest minds in the world.

This Thursday evening, attend a free lecture at the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Harvard Square to discuss "Evolution of Life in the Ocean," with Harvard University professor of organismic and evolutionary biology, Peter Girguis.

Girguis will lead you on a virtual tour of ocean microbial life while discussing how marine microbes influence the evolution of all life on Earth.

FILM + FAMILY FUN

Bugs Bunny Film Festival | February 17-25

School vacation week officially starts in Cambridge next week, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait to have some fun.  The annual Bugs Bunny Film Festival at The Brattle Theatre begins this weekend, making it the perfect way to kick off the weekend and week with your kiddos.

The festival kicks off on Friday evening with the All Bugs Revue, followed by Daffy Duck & Friends all day Saturday and then in case you couldn’t make it on Friday night, the All Bugs Revue will play on Sunday, too.

THEATER

AcousticaElectronica | February 17

The performances at the Oberon never seem to disappoint and are always a “must see” on our list. It’s safe to say that AcousticaElectronica will be no different.

AcousticaElectronica, which will celebrate their 5th Anniversary at the Oberon on Friday blends together elements of dance and circus arts with electronic and classical music all while giving the infectious energy of a nightclub.  Who wouldn’t want to dance the night away with the American Repertory Theatre?

Be sure to purchase your tickets A.S.A.P. This show is sure to sell out fast.

FARMERS MARKET

Cambridge Winter Farmers Market | February 18

Every Saturday this winter (until April 15th)  you can shop the farmers market inside at the Cambridge Community Center. The coolest part? You won’t just find fresh vegetables and other culinary goodies from New England here – the Cambridge Winter Farmers Market will also be hosting special events, arts and crafts, and even music all season long.

In case you want to know even more about the farmers market, check out our Insider Post “Everything You Need to Know about the Cambridge Winter Farmers Market.”

Extended Hours at the Museum of Science | 18-23

Anytime that we can spend more time at the Museum of Science in East Cambridge makes us extremely happy.  Starting February 18 through the 23, the Museum of Science will extend their hours in celebration of School Vacation Week - that means more time to explore the Chocolate exhibit and learn all about Da Vinci.
